TITLE: Assistant Activities Director/JRH Athletics DEPARTMENT: Activities
DATE: Updated November 11, 2021 FLSA Status: Exempt
Work Year: 213 Days (Administrator Calendar)SALARY: $47,000-$52,000**depending upon previous relevant experience. Actual starting pay rate will be determined after a review of the work experience provided on the job application and resume.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:Supervises and manages all aspects of Junior High Interscholastic Athletic Programs. Assists the Junior High office in supervision and management of Junior High Intramural Programs. Assists in supervising all aspects of High School Interscholastic Athletic and Activity Programs.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:Reports to the High School Activities Director

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Implements the TCA athletics and school philosophy.
Supervises compliance with all Northern Peaks Athletic Conference rules and regulations

Assists in supervising compliance with all Colorado High School Activities Association rules and regulations.

Supervises Academic Status Checks for students involved in Junior High athletics.
Hires and supervises/evaluates junior high athletic coaches (with the coordination of the High School Activities Director, High School Principal, and Junior High Principal). Supervises game/activity workers, event custodian, and concessions/hospitality coordinator for junior high and high school events.
Organizes transportation and logistical requirements in support of all junior high athletics.
Works with the HS Activities Director on fundraising for Junior High athletic programs.
Supervises communication with TCA constituencies regarding all Junior High athletics.
Schedules all athletic events at the junior high level
Represents TCA for all Northern Peaks Athletic Conference meetings and activities. May represent TCA in specific high school conference and state level meetings.

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Supervises updating of the Junior High Athletics Handbook
Facilitates JH head and assistant coaches as needed
Supervises the coordination of end of season athletics banquets
Supervises the athletics financial accounts
Consults with the HS Activities Director and Facilities Director on custodial responsibilities in support of JH activities
Coordinates and maintains the JH athletics calendar in coordination with JH staff
Coordinates with the Activities Office Manager all game worker and staff scheduling for Junior High athletic practices, meetings, and contests.
Other duties as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:Undergraduate degree required
EXPERIENCE:Experience as an Athletic Director, Athletics Assistant, Teacher, or Coach, and/or comparable planning, support, financial, and leadership responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of building and maintaining an interscholastic athletic program
Skill in providing for the needs of each individual sports program through budget planning, coach and athlete/student skill development, and program growth
Ability to communicate with all activities staff, as well as parents, students, other staff members, and visitors to the school
Ability to represent the school community with high character when interacting with a variety of public groups, i.e. leagues, organizations, schools, and media
Ability to hire athletic personnel with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to both athletic skill development and character development
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

Typical demands require the employee to:
Spend majority of daytime work hours sitting
frequently stand and walk, and occasionally drive, while performing job duties
While supervising sporting events, spend majority of the event standing and walking while performing job duties
Occasionally help prepare facilities for athletics/activities events, which may require lifting/carrying burdens weighing up to 50 lbs., pushing/pulling burdens weighing up to 100 lbs.
Perform routine maintenance on athletics/activities equipment and facilities
Frequently use eye, hand, and finger coordination to enable the use of a computer, other office equipment, and writing utensils
