Corporate Vendor Management (CVM) at Charles Schwab & Co. is responsible for establishing and supporting a firm-wide Vendor Management Program to support business owners in meeting their objectives and satisfying Schwab’s client needs through appropriate and strategic use of third parties. The program defines the process and provides a set of procedural standards for identifying, prioritizing, mitigating, monitoring and controlling vendor-related risk and performance levels, and reporting requirements for measurability and improvement; and assists Schwab in meeting regulatory and compliance requirements. This role provides operational support to the business owners in the Procure-to-Pay process.

This is an individual contributor role.

What you are good at

The Manager will be responsible for managing a variety of commodities and ensuring purchasing activities are consistent with Schwab’s policies. The successful candidate will need to be a self-starter, able to work independently and possess a strong desire to learn and grow. The candidate must possess the ability to develop strong working relationships with peers and internal business partners. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Validate contractual documentation as it supports requisitions and related Procurement processes
Ensure Purchase Requisition (PR) activities are accurate and consistent with Schwab policies
Review and approve team PRs valued over $1M
Utilize Purchasing Card to purchase various products and services for Business Owners Support Schwab Business Owners on various ad hoc requests (Ariba training, PO spend management, PR status follow-up and expedite request, advise on CVM and Schwab’s processes and policies)
Monitor and distribute to team the Purchase Requisition (PR) and Match Exceptions processing queues and ensure SLAs are being met
Work with, and delegate key tasks, that assist in timely and accurate payments to Suppliers
Perform audits on Sr. Specialist PRs to ensure consistent compliance and processes
Train team as necessary on new processes to ensure consistency across the team
Manage team meetings to keep team aware of new initiatives and to reinforce existing ones
Monitor non-compliant activity to omit future issues
Design and test system enhancements
Provide guidance and assist team with any questions and escalations
Liaise with key Business Partners to determine their product and service needs
Work closely with Accounts Payable to resolve invoicing discrepancies
Partner with Vendor Sourcing Managers to ensure compliance with Master Agreements and sub-agreements
Resolve and escalate as needed, issues with internal clients concerning discrepancies in price, terms, or returns
Communicate directly with vendors to request quotes, resolve contract pricing, resolve PO/Invoice inquiries, and order products from external websites
Improve operational processes to eliminate/mitigate inefficiencies, increase effectiveness and business value
Update and maintain Desktop Procedures Guides, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Job Aids
Perform additional due diligence based on commodity.

What you have

5+ years’ experience in procurement, P2P process, contract management and internal controls, in a regulated industry preferred
Poised presentation skills and comfortability speaking to various size audiences, leading discussions, providing training and demos of processes and systems
Adaptable to change and understanding how it will impact the team and internal Business Partners
Ability to work in a high volume fast paced environment with tight deadlines
Excellent interpersonal skillfulness, including proven listening skills and the ability to communicate (verbal and written) in a clear, well-organized manner
Passion for service, positive attitude, enthusiasm, professionalism, strong client, and team focus
Ability to explain answers/ resolutions clearly and thoroughly (with a high focus on accuracy) and provide recommendations and solutions to more complex problems. Team player who drives engagement and strong desire to help people
Aptitude to work on multiple projects at one time as well as shift quickly to assist team with questions and escalations
Effective planning and organization skills, including success with time management
Ability to multi-task with experience working in a dual monitor environment and the ability to utilize numerous programs at one time
Attention to detail and strong emotional maturity/intelligence
Self-motivated with solid judgment and the ability to think clearly and form and share a point of view
Provide guidance and coaching to team members, as needed, to balance and prioritize daily requirements
Proficiency in understanding various contracts and contractual language
Experience with Ariba and PeopleSoft Financials required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Colorado Compensation

Target Total Compensation – 98,000 – 176,400
