Position: Scientist 1 (Natural Resources – Wildlife) or Scientist 2

Our Natural Resource team here in Colorado is looking for a highly motivated, hard-working, and inquisitive biologist to join our team. We conduct various natural resource surveys for clients and are looking for a biologist with experience performing wildlife surveys and monitoring and native plant identification. Our ideal candidate is a team player who wants to build their career and grow with us. Qualities and potential Responsibilities as a Scientist 1:

A biologist with a BS degree or higher, familiar with wildlife and native plant identification, and preferably has 1-2 years of experience with environmental compliance and construction.
Natural resource field knowledge and an interest in conducting reclamation and wildlife monitoring surveys and wildlife habitat assessments throughout Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, and New Mexico.
Experience with natural resource surveys and methodologies (vegetation, wildlife, water, soils, and site characteristics/conditions).
Ability to gather, analyze, and conduct basic scientific data interpretation of field data.
Must have excellent computer skills, especially with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Aptitude to learn state and federal environmental regulations (e.g., COGCC, CPR, NEPA, ESA, CWA) – previous experience is desired but not required.
Ability to write, compile, and draft reports using existing templates.
Support scheduled “on-call” requirements for Natural Resources, Stormwater, or other Surface Management projects regularly with some weekends and holidays and as obligations arise.
Most of our work is local, with travel opportunities regionally and nationally for project-specific activities as needed, with all expenses paid and a daily per diem.
Adhere to all Health and Safety protocols and procedures, including maintaining and using all appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), following “Lone Worker” policies, and safe driving policies (must have a valid driver’s license and safe driving record).
Be able to accurately complete field data entry forms using electronic data collection devices such as tablets.
Experience with Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment and proficiency in navigation and interpretation of topographic maps.
Adherence to strict drug-free policies and testing.
Be willing to learn new skills, be mentored by professionals, and work as a team.

Physical Requirements:

Occasionally exerting up to 20-40 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Ability to work potentially long days and/or walk long distances on terrain typical of the rocky mountain region.
Standing, walking, reaching, and bending periodically.
Ability to cope with changing weather conditions typical of this region.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate assigned equipment and a computer keyboard.
Engaging in repetitive movements of wrists, hands, and fingers – typing and/or writing.
Working frequently at close visual range (i.e., preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcription, computer screen, extensive reading).
Hearing and speaking to receive and respond to oral communication in person and over the telephone/computer.
Reaching overhead and above shoulders to retrieve files and materials.
