Customer Service Representative

Hiring Range: $20.82 – 23.43 per hour

New to our Team? Receive 40 Hours Paid Time Off Upon Hire.

About the Position:
The representative in this position performs customer service in person and by telephone; files records and documents; performs data entry; takes payments and monies and account for customer/City funds; maintains related records and accounts; performs research on documents and customer questions; and maintains supplies and forms. The customer service representative receives general supervision from the Customer Service Supervisor.

Duties

What You’ll Do:

Responsible for assisting with a variety of routine customer service and administrative support functions, including responding to general and specific inquiries from customers regarding regulations, policies, and procedures.
Research and respond to inquiries and direct customers to the appropriate City divisions and departments.
Process and enter information on assigned databases and departmental software systems; review, process, and route a variety of forms, records, applications, and statements ensuring completeness and accuracy.
Complete work orders; perform appropriate tags and shut offs to specific customer utility accounts; complete necessary account closures and/or updates.
Monitor and track delinquent utility accounts; calculate payment schedules and fees using established formulas; respond to inquiries related to accounts.
Collect and process a high volume of utility, departmental, and miscellaneous cash receipts; collect and process over the counter and mail payments, and issue receipts as needed; balance cash and prepare daily deposit documents.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

Great customer service skills.
Ability to calculate fees and process payments.
Ability to handle cash and balance transactions.
Effective oral and written communication.
Ability to respond to requests and inquiries from the general public and City employees.
Accurately count, record and balance transactions.
Apply bookkeeping and financial record-keeping principles to the maintenance of financial and accounting records.
Establish and maintain accurate records, logs, and files.
Minimum Requirements:

One (1) year of general accounting and/or customer service experience.
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Proficiency with 10-key adding machine.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements maybe substituted.
