Ovintiv’s Integrated Operations Center (IOC) is seeking an Operator reporting to the IOC Manager. The IOC is a manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operations center that monitor, manages, and controls oil and gas production (both wells and facilities) remotely using SCADA. The operator will be responsible for working with field operations, production engineering, and the SCADA team to support our field operating teams.

Primary areas of focus will be data and reporting, alarm management, Environment Health & Safety (EH&S), and production optimization/maintenance. The ideal candidate must have a strong safety culture and be able to manage all aspects of safe practices, initiate corrective actions on all safety issues, and maintain all regulatory compliances.

The position will be based in either Okarche, OK, Midland, TX or Denver, CO and will work a 7-on/7-off, 12-hour rotational shift including days and nights with occasional travel to field locations. The successful candidate will be expected to work weekends and holidays when scheduled.

Responsibilities

Monitor all field facilities safety and environmental alarms and shutdowns and works with field staff to apply immediate corrective action as required to resolve the alarm or shutdown condition.
Communicate with maintenance and operations staff through personal contact and electronic media to support personnel safety and working alone situations.
Follow proper procedures for remote startup and shutdown of all field equipment.
Monitor and focus on area production rates to the well level, proactively work with various stakeholders to continually optimize and maximize field production rates.
Demonstrate a consultative approach with members of the area asset teams, share knowledge freely and participate in the training of fellow employees.

Qualifications

Five or more years’ experience as Lease or Control Room Operator with knowledge of oil and liquids production from horizontal wells preferred.
Experience with Cygnet operating platform and configuration or other SCADA systems.
Experience with the operation of various forms of artificial lift (plunger lift, gas lift, ESP’s and sucker rod) and can utilize data to troubleshoot/optimize preferred.
Knowledge of down hole operations, facility construction, compression, pipelines, measurement, and telemetry preferred.
Experience with PI data acquisition and analysis preferred.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook.
Understanding process variables through trend analysis.
Positive attitude with a high commitment to multi-discipline teamwork.
An “outside the box” thinker that looks for “game changing” opportunities and continuous improvement.
Safety-sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Ovintiv’s reasonable estimate of the hiring compensation range for this role.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $80,000 – $90,000 USD

Compensation may vary and will be determined by the geographic location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
